Center Theatre Group

One of the largest theatres outside of New York, Center Theatre Group (CTG) is a cultural force that delivers a broad variety of performances to diverse Los Angeles audiences every year. With three stages, a thriving Artistic Development Program, and dedicated arts education outreach, CTG has established a renowned tradition of cutting edge performances in its fifty year history.

Time Warner Foundation has joined CTG in its mission to help level inequities through theatrical arts. With the Foundation’s support, CTG offers an annual cohort of Los Angeles-based playwrights a season of residence with feedback, support, and expert mentorship while they research and write new projects. This program is called L.A. Writers’ Workshop.

Infusing the industry with fresh, talented American voices has naturally cultivated diverse artists. Of past participants to 2017, over 73% of artists have been female, transgender, and/or people of color. Much of this work is seen by audiences in the CTG season (particularly through the DouglasPlus series, ranging from staged readings and workshops to full productions). The impact of this initiative continues to deepen since its inception in 2005: notable alumni include Marco Rivera, showrunner of Marvel and Netflix series, Daredevil and The Defenders.
