Based in New York, The Lark has progressive and worldly vision, engaging international artists through exchange programs and calling for inclusive American theatre through its unique fellowships. All of this aligns with The Lark’s globalized mission of empowering playwrights. Their support uplifts the work, the industry, and the artist and thereby, our entire culture. Similarly, The Apothetae, a New York City-based theater company, recognizes the transformative power of theatre. Through the artistic process, The Apothetae aims to represent and share the Disabled Experience in a sincere and accurate way on stage in order to unite communities, and change perceptions.
In partnership, Time Warner Foundation supports the newly established Apothetae/Lark Fellowship, a residency for a disabled artist to create work for audiences to perceive an honest portrayal of a disabled experience. This unique fellowship creates a platform for disabled artists to share their stories, in their own words. Additionally, five finalists will receive a financial award and be invited to participate in a writers group for the two-year term.
