Sundance Institute

The Sundance Institute is widely known as one of the world’s strongest advocate of independent stories and the creators who tell them.  The Sundance Institute has created a space in media where nontraditional narratives can find an audience and thrive without conforming to ideas and conventions of the past.

For years, the Time Warner Foundation has funded the Time Warner Fellowship as part of its Diversity Initiative and the Native American and Indigenous Program.  These are in place to preserve a space in the world of independent filmmaking for underserved audiences and artists.  The objective of these resources is to ensure that everyone can hear his or her voice represented in media.

This work and the quality of the award winning storytellers developed set an example for mainstream media too: there is, in fact, room at the table for everyone.  The Time Warner Fellows have joined the conversation as avatars of progressive media and entertainment.
