True Colors Theatre Company

True Colors Theatre Company is Atlanta’s regional theater celebrating African American classics while also committing to new works and voices contributing to American theatre. Founded in 2007 by Director Kenny Leon, the ambitiously growing theatre company is dedicated to the concept of storytelling as truth-revealing. True Colors serves a diverse audience by producing an annual three-play season, community conversations, in-school theatre education, the August Wilson Monologue Competition, and a Spring Play Reading Series.

As a partner, Time Warner Foundation proudly supports the unique programming initiative of Spring Play Reading Series. This play development project identifies two exceptional American storytellers representing identities disproportionately seen on stage and amplifies their work through a commission. True Colors then continues to provide these artists with resources and mentorship through a year-long writing process before a single-day intensive workshop for the public Spring Play Reading Series and subsequent week-long workshops. The two works will later be produced by True Colors and partners on Broadway.
