Time Warner Foundation grantee, Film Independent, will develop a cohort of seven screenwriters to “invent the recipe” of their feature projects.  Film Independent’s Screenwriting Lab is a five-week, intensive program designed to train the Fellows’ discipline through story sessions and coaching from mentors.  Felicia Pride’s OpenEnded, Maria Abraham Girl With Child, Evan Romansky’s Detroitus, Ron Najor and Mark Eaton’s Dark Web, and Joshua Tate’s College Girl are the six screenplays selected for this year’s fellowships.

“We are thrilled to include each of these filmmakers and provide critical creative support and feedback to further develop their unique voices and help realize the full potential of their stories”  said Jennifer Kushner, Film Independent Director of Artist Development.

Time Warner Foundation grantee, LAByrinth Theater Company is set to debut the world-premiere play, Homos, Or Everyone in America, on Thursday, October 20th.  The progressive new play’s production notes charge it as “a fearless, funny, heart-on-its-sleeve examination of the moments that can bring two people together – or pull them apart.”  Sporting an inclusive cast which features Tony Award nominee, Robin De Jesús (In The Heights) and Drama Desk Award winner, Ugly Betty’s Michael Urie – the talented party will take the stage to question its audience’s preconceptions about love.

The 95-minute piece, written by Jordan Seavey of The Public Theater’s 2009 Emerging Writer’s Group, will run Tuesdays through Sundays at Bank Street Theater in New York, NY.
