Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) has stood out since its 1935 establishment as a home for great performance art in the Northwest. Always bold, OSF’s envelope-pushing nine-month-long seasons stage new works alongside Shakespearean classics with a resident company of actors. Many OSF world premieres go on to audiences far beyond the theatre’s immediate reach: to be produced at regional, Off-Broadway, and in Broadway theaters as well as adapted for film, including 2017 Broadway arrival Sweat.

Time Warner Foundation has partnered with this one-of-a-kind organization to bring a new edge to its already thriving portfolio of world premieres. Funds and partnership from the Foundation will support the Latinx Play Project to inspire a new generation of Latinx theatre artists while honoring the Teatro movement of the 1970s.

This expansion of OSF’s biennial Latinx Play Project weekends is set to incorporate the pre-existing convening of Latinx theatre artists every two years and to establish the Latinx Play Project Lab for emerging writers and development workshop intensives for plays by Latinx artists.
