RECENT WORK I am currently working on a screenplay about women living through the armed conflict in Colombia. My partner, Gloria La Morte, and I traveled to Colombia and worked with survivors in order to write the screenplay.

I WAS BORN IN COLOMBIA but grew up on the West Coast and was raised by my mother. Every summer I was sent to my grandmother’s home in Colombia for three months, and it was during that time that I fell in love with my country, my people and my culture. The stories that I choose to tell tend to come from the perspective of women struggling to live, to eat, to survive and who do so by finding their inner strength. This is a direct influence from all the wonderful women in my family.

MY WORK, IN SIX WORDS: Hard knock life = well of potential
